Terror Alert Level Lowered

(Washington, DC)- Today, the Department of Homeland Security lowered the federal terrorism alert level to yellow, or elevated. Normally when the alert level is raised, government authorities and businesses step up security throughout the country. Today’s decision to lower the alert level allows authorities to scale back some security measures.

Editor’s note:

YELLOW: Elevated condition. Significant risk.

  • Increase surveillance of critical locations.
  • Coordinate emergency plans with nearby jurisdictions.
  • Assess further refinement of protective measures within the context of the current threat information.
  • Implement, as appropriate, contingency and emergency response plans.
